After ten years of loose cooperation, they came together to form the legal umbrella organization Die Filschaffenden - Federal Association of Filmmakers' Associations , of which Hauff is still President today. In 1983 he founded the Munich Film Festival , which he directed until 2003. For many years he was a member of the board of directors of the central organization of the film industry (SPIO) and of the administrative board of the Film Funding Agency (FFA).
