Judith Lorentz

Judith Lorentz (* 1974 in Berlin ) is a German radio play and theater director .

Life

Lorentz studied German and Hispanic Studies in Berlin, Freiburg i. Br. , Madrid and Buenos Aires . During her studies she was an assistant director at Deutschlandradio Kultur and then from 2003 to 2005 she was a trainee for radio play directing at Südwestrundfunk . She is married, has two children and lives in Berlin.

Her “orchestral radio play” The War of the Buttons , which was created in collaboration with the composer Henrik Albrecht , received the German Audio Book Prize 2009 for “Best Children's Audio Book ”. It exemplifies the director's interest in opening up radio plays to music and theater. She also staged this and other pieces as "live radio plays" for the theater audience. The critics praised Lorentz's "sovereign sense of rhythm and nuances" and her "precise and easy" way of staging.
