Laila Stieler

Laila Stieler (* 1965 in Neustadt an der Orla , GDR ) is a German screenwriter , dramaturge and producer .

Life

After graduating from high school and doing a traineeship with television in the GDR from 1986 to 1990, Laila Stieler studied film and television dramaturgy at the Babelsberg Film Academy . For almost a year in 1992 she worked in the television game editorial team at MDR before moving to UFA television production in 1993 , where she worked as a producer until 2002. She is the author or co-author of numerous scripts for the films of Andreas Dresen and other works.

Laila Stieler lives in Thomsdorf in the Uckermark and has a daughter. She is the daughter of the documentary film director Barbara Junge .

Awards

For her script for Die Polizistin Laila Stieler received the TV Film Prize of the German Academy of Performing Arts in 2000 and the Adolf Grimme Prize in gold the following year . For other productions she was awarded the Golden Lion and the Bavarian Television Prize. For her script for the film Gundermann by Andreas Dresen, she won the German Film Prize in 2019 , the "Lola".
