Güzin Kar (born February 28, 1967 in İskenderun , Turkey ) is a Swiss film director , screenwriter and columnist .

Life

At the age of five, Güzin Kar, who was born in Turkey, went with her parents to Switzerland, where the family lived in the small Aargau border town of Laufenburg . After studying German and film studies in Zurich, Güzin Kar attended the Baden-Württemberg Film Academy from 1994 to 1999 . Since then she has worked as a screenwriter and director in Switzerland and Germany. Her cinematic works have won national and international awards in the directing and screenwriting categories, such as the European Script Award for the television series “Seitentriebe”, which ran under the name “Monogamish” in Latin America, the USA and Canada. In 2006 her first book "Ich dich dich" appeared, which topped the Swiss bestseller list. In 2008 her second book "Leben in Hormonie" was published.

In addition to her film work, Güzin Kar writes columns and guest articles for newspapers and magazines, including “Die Triebäterin” in the Neue Zürcher Zeitung .

Güzin Kar is married and lives in Zurich.
