The military comedy was produced by Zodiac Pictures AG and the main producers Lukas Hobi and Reto Schärli. The general theatrical release in Switzerland was on October 24, 2013, after the preview in Thusis in the canton of Graubünden on October 19, 2013.

action

When Alex Stüssi is presented to the doctor when he is evacuated , he tells him something about diffuse pain and that he does not only suffer from a sexually transmitted disease . The doctor remains skeptical at first, but when Alex reveals his alleged homosexual orientation to him, the eviction doctor declares him unfit for duty. Alex, who is heterosexual, is already expected by his girlfriend Anna Reiker in front of the building . The young man has deceived the doctor because he has no desire to be called up for military service, he much prefers to work on his yoga teacher training.

Five years have passed since the day of their leave of absence when Alex and Anna are expecting their first child together. Since they live very cramped, they look around for new living space. Since their budget is low, the endeavor is difficult. Anna's father, commander in the Swiss Army, owns a nice little house that would be suitable for the young couple. He is also willing to let his daughter and her boyfriend rent the house cheaply, but he makes a condition with dire consequences for Alex. Alex has to agree to take part in the next military refresher course (WK for short) under Reiker. Since savings and budget cuts in the military are pending and Brigadier Breitinger is particularly interested in Reiker's unit, Alex has to go along and try to bring the company into shape in order to avert a breakup. In the event of an early release, Reiker would need his house himself as a retirement home.

A few days before his child's due date is due, Alex moves to Thusis in the WK. Unfamiliar with the rules of the military, he often gets into situations at first that make him look stupid. In contrast to his comrades, who expect so-called “men's holidays” with everything that goes with it, Alex shows a service attitude that surprises. However, he also introduces some innovations that take more than getting used to, by confronting the group with yoga exercises and exercise balls and trying to get them into shape. It is not planned, however, that Alex will fall in love with the tough troop cook Jessica, who is not averse. Cooking may not be what she has mastered, but the young woman is excellent at handling a gun. The affection for Jessica turns out to be a dangerous stumbling block and tears a deep ditch in Alex's relationship with Anna. Ultimately, however, everything works out fine.

production

Numerous scenes in the film were shot in Thusis and the surrounding area. About 25 of the 30 days of shooting were shot there. The Pantun training center, which was made available by the Thusner municipal council, served as accommodation for the troops. The crew did not receive any support from the military department, as the experience with the previous film "Ready, steady, Charlie!" were classified as negative.

The film was shown exclusively as a Swiss preview on October 19, 2013 at the Rätia cinema in Thusis.

In the spring of 2014, a version dubbed in High German for the entire German-speaking area was released on DVD under the title "Attention, ready, Charlie 2". It was made in Munich by Taurusmedia Synchron GmbH under the dialogue direction of Simon Mora .

criticism

Alice Grosjean from meinkino.ch drew the conclusion: “Military slapstick with a satirical touch . Good entertainment for the Swiss people of today. ”She previously stated that the film“ had little to do with its predecessor in terms of content ”. Admittedly, "the style has grown up, [...] the plot is rather unspectacular. Clichés and average gags [stayed] in line, in between [there would be] a few sentimental inserts. "

Stefan Volk from the Aargauer Zeitung found that “Marco Rima is more than ever convincing Reiker as a thoroughbred commander who, despite the hard shell, [has] his heart in the right place. And Martin Rapold, as Constable Weiss, once again took pleasure in shouting soldiers down and making them crawl through the mud. Similar to “Charlie!” [Take] “WK!” Traditional images of women and men, only to be caught up with stereotypes like that. ”In conclusion, Volk judged:“ Even if you do, “Ready, WK! ›Presented in a much more mature, rounder and more profound way than its unpolished, gaudy predecessor, the satirical instinct and the fun have not suffered."

Irene Genhart from the Landbote praised the cast, which was “pretty by type”, “the actors [are] in a good mood, so that the camaraderie is taken away from them. The script written by Güzin Kar [have] a lot of humor and plays [e] with the Swissness, the dialogues [are] polished. ”Genhart also found that“ the story has a good draw ”, but complained that“ a lot is just plain not really new ”. The résumé was: “But it is Cinemascope-splendid and solid entertainment cinema, made in Switzerland. And sometimes films don't have to be more than that. "

The Neue Zürcher Zeitung referred to the previous film and stated that “Melanie Winiger, who had been replaced by a blonde in a thong (Sira Topic), was smiling out of a picture frame.” It was now her, the “panting and after her The author Güzin Kar, who was responsible for the script, was accused of not having succeeded in “doing something substantial to improve the level of the WK”, which one had hoped for. At the end of the comment the question was asked: "Do the Swiss cinema audiences appreciate this unoriginal military skin?"

Florian Keller from the Tages-Anzeiger spoke about the visual gags and was of the opinion that they had worked “less well”. [...] “Slapstick, this high art of supposedly lower physical comedy, [is] a foreign word in Swiss film. Wherever it stays with the strenuous attempt, it quickly becomes embarrassing. ”Keller's closing words were:“ Yes, this sequel is better than 'Watch out, get set, Charlie!' But one also has to add: It wasn't that difficult. Every army gets the films it deserves. And for what is said to be the best army in the world, a comedy like 'Ready, steady, WK!' Is just good enough. "
