- October marks the 125th anniversary of the production of the oldest known films in history . The French photographer Louis Le Prince was granted a patent for a film camera in October 1888 . In the same month he puts in Leeds so that films Roundhay Garden Scene and Traffic Crossing Leeds Bridge forth.
- In the same year, William KL Dickson began work in Thomas Alva Edison's laboratories on the development of an apparatus for recording “moving images”.
- In Austria it is 100 years since the first performance of a sound film, which is presented under the title “Talking Film” in the Viennese Sofiensaal (Edison Kinetophon and Gaumont ).
