Barbara Werle

Barbara May Theresa Werle , married Barbara Branca , (born October 6, 1928 in Mount Vernon , New York - † January 1, 2013 in Carlsbad , California ) was an American actress and dancer .

Life

Werle was born as Barbara May Theresa Werle . She attended a Catholic high school . After graduating, she received professional training in dance sport , as a dancer for standard dances . In 1955 she won the Harvest Moon Ball with her partner John Mansell. As part of the Barbara and Mansell dance couple , she performed in Las Vegas and made guest appearances in nightclubs across the United States. She has appeared as a dancer on the Ed Sullivan Show several times .

In the mid-1960s, Werle went to Hollywood to become an actress. She made her television debut in 1963 as a nurse Betsy Gordon in an episode of the American television series McHale’s Navy . She was seen as partner of Elvis Presley in several movies : in the western comedy Cowboy-Melodie (1965), in the comedy Verschollen im Harem (1965, as oriental beauty Leilah) and in the western Charro! (1969, as Mrs. Sara Remsey).

She had other cinema roles in the war film The Last Battle (1965, as Elena), in the Western Rancho River (1966, as Deke Gert), in the science fiction thriller The Man Who Lived Twice (1966, as a secretary) , in the western The Sheriff Shoots Back (1967, as Leann), in the disaster film Krakatoa - The Greatest Adventure of the Last Century (1969; as Charley, girlfriend of the opium-addicted diver Connerly) and Retribution in Nemo Town (1975, as Billie).

In the US television series San Francisco International Airport in 1970, she had a leading role on the side of Lloyd Bridges and Clu Gulager . She played June, the airport manager's secretary, Conrad (Lloyd Bridges). She also had several different roles in the American western series The People of the Shiloh Ranch between 1963 and 1970 .

In the mid-1970s, Werle withdrew from the film business. Her last film role, according to the IMDb film database , was in the television movie Perilous Voyage in 1976 . From then on she mainly devoted herself to her hobby, singing in the church choir .

In 2000 she moved to the La Costa neighborhood in Carlsbad, California. There she sang from 2000 to 2012 as soprano in the St. Elizabeth Seton Traditional Choir.

Her son, John G. Branca, is a well-known lawyer ; he represents numerous rock musicians and show stars.
