Jeff Pollack (* 15. November 1959 in Los Angeles as Jeffrey Ian Pollack ; † 23. December 2013 in Hermosa Beach , California ) was an American director , screenwriter and film producer . He became known through the movies Above the Rim , Booty Call - One-Night-Stand with Obstacles and Get The Dog - Crazy About Love .

life and career

Jeff Pollack, born in 1959, traveled through Asia for three years after completing his studies at the University of Southern California before returning to the USA to work in various positions in the entertainment and film business. Together with a friend, business partner Benny Medina, he founded the production company Medina / Pollack Entertainment in the early 1990s, which later became Handprint Entertainment . There they looked after well-known stars such as Tyra Banks , Jennifer Lopez and Mariah Carey . He also produced numerous episodes of the popular television series The Prince of Bel-Air with Will Smith until 1995 .

In 1994, Pollack made the leap into the cinema with the sports drama Above the Rim , starring Duane Martin and Tupac Shakur . Jeff Pollack realized the film under his own responsibility as producer, screenwriter and director. In 1997 he directed the romantic comedy Booty Call - One-Night-Stand with Obstacles, starring Jamie Foxx , Tommy Davidson and Vivica A. Fox . In 1999 he directed Get The Dog, another comedy starring David Spade , Sophie Marceau and Ever Carradine . From 2000, Pollack worked mainly in the role of executive producer, among others for television films and series such as Jennifer Lopez in Concert , The Tyra Banks Show or The Show with AJ Calloway . In 2003 he was the producer of the movie Fighting Temptations with Cuba Gooding Jr. , Beyoncé Knowles and Mike Epps .

He had worked with the entertainer Jeff Beacher in the last years of his life on the production of variety shows. Pollack died unexpectedly while jogging in Hermosa Beach, California, early morning on December 23, 2013.
