Tyra Lynne Banks (born December 4, 1973 in Inglewood , California ) is an American model , actress , singer and talk show host .

In 1997, she won the Michael Award for Best Supermodel of the Year . Tyra Banks is one of the most prominent models in the USA. The People Magazine chose it in 1994 and 1996 under the "50 most beautiful people in the world."

Life

As a child, she attended Immaculate Heart High School in Los Angeles , California . In 1991, when she was seventeen, she was discovered by the Elite modeling agency . She dropped out of school and moved to Paris .

On January 27, 2016, Banks and her boyfriend Erik Asla became parents of a son who was born to a surrogate mother .

Model career

Many designers became aware of Banks in the first few weeks of their stay in Paris. She was booked for 25 shows and thus holds the record for newcomers. Tyra Banks has already worked for the likes of Dior , Dolce & Gabbana and Tommy Hilfiger , but she is best known as a Victoria's Secret angel . The founders of Victoria's Secrets even called her the best model. Banks was also honored to be the first African American woman to grace the covers of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue and GQ . In 2005 she withdrew from the modeling business.

Prior to her modeling career, Tyra Banks was accepted by five different colleges to study film and television production, but she initially opted for a career on the catwalk. In 2004 she started her own company, Bankable Productions . The first project America's Next Top Model is very successful. In 2014, the 21st season was broadcast. Banks is both a producer and a judge on the reality television show.

Banks also tried her hand at singing, recording the song "Shake Ya Body," which was produced by Rodney Jerkins . The accompanying music video shows the last six candidates of the second season of America's Next Top Model . The single was a flop and the planned debut album TYRA was never released.

Her own talk show, The Tyra Banks Show , has been running daily on the US television channel The CW since 2005 . After the second season, the show's crew moved to New York City so that America's Next Top Model and the talk show could be filmed in parallel. Banks won the Emmy in the field of informative daytime shows in 2008 and 2009 for hosting her talk show. After the 5th season, the talk show ended.

Music videos

Tyra Banks appeared in some music videos, including Michael Jackson's " Black or White ", where she can be seen as the second face of the morphing sequence . Likewise in George Michael's “Too Funky”, together with supermodel Linda Evangelista , in Tina Turner's “Love Thing” and in Mobb Deep's “Trife Life”.
