Rodney "Darkchild" Jerkins (born July 29, 1977 in Pleasantville , New Jersey , USA ) is an American musician, songwriter and producer.
Jerkins, whose work is mainly limited to the two genres of contemporary R&B and pop , is one of the best-known representatives of the American music industry. As the producer of a large number of hits for artists such as Brandy , Destiny's Child , Mariah Carey , Jennifer Lopez , Toni Braxton , Whitney Houston and Michael Jackson , he was responsible for the development of urban light music in the 1990s alongside Timbaland and Jermaine Dupri .
