Ciara (singer)
Ciara Princess Harris (* 25. October 1985 in Austin , Texas ) is an American hip-hop - and R & B - singer . Her international breakthrough came in 2004 with the number one hit Goodies .
Youth and private life
As the daughter of an officer in the American Army , she grew up in the states of New York , California , Arizona and Nevada , lived for a while in Giessen and went to school in neighboring Wetzlar . Since her parents Carlton and Jackie recognized her singing talent early on, they encouraged it already in their childhood. She spent her youth mainly with studio recordings or smaller stage appearances. For some time she was a member of a three-member girl group . Ciara's musical role models include Janet Jackson , Michael Jackson , Aaliyah and Destiny's Child .
From 2004 to 2006 she was in a relationship with rapper Bow Wow , from 2007 to the end of 2009 with the musician 50 Cent . From the end of 2012, Ciara was dating the rapper Future . In May 2014 they became parents of a son, and in August 2014 the couple separated. She has been married to football player Russell Wilson since July 2016 . The couple had a daughter in April 2017 and a son in July 2020.
Career
2003–2005 start of career with goodies
In 2003 she signed her first solo record deal with LaFace Records and composed and produced her debut album Goodies , which was released in September 2004, with artists such as Jazze Pha , 50 Cent , Missy Elliott , Ludacris , Dre & Vidal and R. Kelly . The first single of the same name , produced by Lil Jon , reached the charts worldwide and was number one in the USA. Other singles from the debut album Goodies are 1, 2 Step featuring Missy Elliott, Oh feat. Ludacris And And I . All songs from the album were successfully placed in the charts worldwide.
2005-2008 The Evolution: Ciara
In 2005 Ciara received Soul Train Awards in the categories “Female Entertainer of the Year” and “Best New R&B Artist”. She was also nominated for the Grammy as “Best Newcomer” . With Missy Elliotts Lose Control , Bow Wows Like You and Field Mobs So What she was represented three more times in the charts. In August 2006 Ciara contributed the title song to the dance film Step Up with Get Up featuring Chamillionaire . At the same time she began work on her second album Ciara: The Evolution , which was released in the USA in December 2006, together with producers Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins , Jazze Pha, Lil Jon, Pharrell Williams , Polow Da Don and Sean Garrett . The album entered the American album charts at number one and produced another top twenty hit with the mid-tempo ballad Promise . The album was released abroad in April 2007, and the singles Like a Boy , Can't Leave 'em Alone with 50 Cent , That's Right and Promise Ring were released . The album went platinum in the United States. In 2007 she went on tour with Jay-Z .
2008–2011: Fantasy Ride and Basic Instinct
In May 2009 her album Fantasy Ride was released ; the first single from the album was Love Sex Magic, a duet with Justin Timberlake . From the album she released the songs Go Girl featuring T-Pain , Im On , Like a Surgeon and Never Ever featuring Young Jeezy in the United States . The second international single, Work with Missy Elliott , was released and only entered the charts in a few countries. Harris can also be heard on Enrique Iglesias song Takin 'Back My Love . Their fourth studio album Basic Instinct was released on December 10, 2010. The first single was Ride with Ludacris , other singles only released in the United States are Gimmie Dat , U Got Me (Basic Instinct) and Speechless . The album did not have a major international chart success. Therefore, in February 2011 Ciara wrote an open letter via Facebook to her long-standing label Jive Records , in which she asked that her contract be terminated. In July 2011 she signed a new artist contract with Epic Records .
2013–2015: Ciara and Jackie
After a year off pregnancy, Harris came back. Their fifth album CIARA was released on July 9, 2013. The first single from the album was Body Party (Remix feat. Future & BoB ). Other promotional releases were Sweat featuring 2 Chainz , Sorry and Got Me Good . The second official single from the album was the duet with Nicki Minaj I'm Out . Nicki Minaj and Ciara recorded the song I'm Legit for Minaj's album . The third release from the album was Overdose . All of the releases from the album were charted. In May 2015 she released her sixth studio album Jackie . I Bet and Dance Like We're Make Love were released as singles. The song I Got You was released as a free download by Harris on Mother's Day . The album also features artists such as Pitbull , Missy Elliott and Joe Jonas .
Since 2018: Beauty Marks
After another pregnancy break, Ciara returned to the studio in 2018. The first single release from the upcoming album was Level Up . Thanks to downloads, the song has placed 59th in the American charts. A remix variant was released with Missy Elliott and Fatman Scoop. The song became a viral hit thanks to the dance of the same name, Chellenge. She and Missy Elliott sang Level Up at the American Music Awards 2018 and presented a medley of the new songs on Ellen DeGeneres' show . The songs Dose and Freak Me were released as a promotion for the album . The third single is called Greatest Love and was released on Valentine's Day 2019. Ciara founded her own music label Beauty Marks, which is also the name of the seventh album. The second international single is Thinking 'Bout You . Further publications are SET and the emotional song Beauty Marks which shows recordings of Harris' wedding. The song Melanin together with Ester Dean , Lupita, LaLa & the City Girls was released in December 2019.
