LaFace Records

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

LaFace Records is an American record label .

The label belongs to the Zomba Music Group , which in turn belongs to the major label Sony BMG . It was one of the most successful hip-hop & contemporary R&B labels of the 1990s. Artists such as TLC , Toni Braxton , Usher , Pink and OutKast were under contract here. The most famous current stars are Usher, Pink and Ciara .

LaFace Records was founded in 1989 in Atlanta by Kenneth Edmonds , LA Reid and Arista Records . At the end of the 1990s, Edmonds left LaFace to devote more time to his own music. In 1999 Arista and BMG took over the record label completely. In 2001 LA Reid became CEO of Arista Records and brought all the stars from LaFace here. With this, LaFace Records disappeared into insignificance for the next three years. It was not until 2004, after a restructuring of BMG, that the label was reactivated and subordinated to the Zomba Music Group as the main label in the hip-hop / R&B sector.
