action

In 1984, 13-year-old Donny Berger had an affair with his 22-year-old teacher, Mary McGarricle. When the two are caught having sex at a school meeting, Mary is arrested and sentenced to 30 years in prison. At the trial, it turns out that she is pregnant. The court decides that Donny should have custody of the child as soon as he reaches the age of 18. As a result of these events, Donny becomes briefly rich and famous, but is quickly forgotten again. He loses all contact with his son, whom he has named Han Solo Berger.

In 2012, Donny is a 42-year-old slacker who has already blown all his money back on his head. He always drinks beer and likes to spend his time in a strip club with his girlfriends, the stripper Champale and her daughter Brie. Donny's son still refuses to contact his father and has told everyone he knows that his parents were killed in an explosion when he was a child. He changed his name to Todd Peterson and is now a successful businessman who is about to marry his girlfriend Jamie.

Donny's attorney tells him that he has $ 43,000 in tax debt due to his lavish lifestyle and that he faces three years' imprisonment if he doesn't pay the money back by the end of the week. Then Donny puts his last twenty dollars on the victory of the overweight athlete Tubby Tuke in an upcoming marathon. However, he quickly realizes that he still needs another plan and turns to television producer Randall Morgan, who produced several shows for Donny during his brief period of fame. He offers him $ 50,000 if he can organize a reunion between his son Han Solo and Ms. McGarricle in the women's prison.

Todd is about to get married at his boss, Steve Spirou's home on Cape Cod . Donny shows up on Cape Cod after years of non-contact and tries to convince Todd to take part in the reunion. Since Todd had already told his friends and Jamie's parents that his parents were dead, he introduces Donny as an old friend. Donny quickly makes himself popular with everyone thanks to his unconventional and relaxed manner and is even persuaded by Todd's friend Phil to play the role of best man. Donny still tries to get Todd to visit the prison, but fails to say that the visit would be filmed for Morgan's TV show. Todd refuses and gets more and more upset about his father's immaturity. Donny shows remorse and says that he was still a child at the time and didn't know “how to be a father”. When he later overhears Jamie yelling at Todd, he encourages Todd not to put up with everything and to defend himself appropriately. Todd accepts the advice and provokes a fight with the sprightly priest the next day at the wedding rehearsal in the church. Donny has to save Todd and knocks the priest unconscious with a bottle.

Later, Donny accompanies Todd and his other friends to the bachelorette party , which turns out to be a visit to a spa organized by Phil. Donny is upset that there is no alcohol and convinces the group to take him to the strip club instead. Just before he leaves, he has quick sex with the spa operator Mrs. Ravensdale. The group continues to party at the strip club, where everyone gets drunk and high too . Todd gets along very well with bartender Brie. When it gets late, Donny sends the other guests home; Phil, however, stays and receives a blowjob from an accident-damaged stripper. Later, Donny and Todd meet rapper Vanilla Ice , an old friend of Donny's. After Donny apologizes to Ice for sleeping with his mother, the three of them go on partying all night. In the end they go back to the house where the wedding will take place, where Donny and Ice have sex with the mother of Todd's boss and the heavily drunk Todd ejaculates on a mannequin wearing Jamie's wedding dress. When he's finished, he vomits on the dress. During the night, Donny and Todd became closer again and Todd even agreed to visit his mother in prison. Donny, feeling guilty for not telling Todd about the television crew waiting there, tries to persuade Todd not to go to jail.

The next day, Jamie forces Todd to take the wedding dress to a dry cleaner. He decides to visit his mother despite Donny's warning. Donny rushes to jail to prevent the meeting, but arrives late so Randall's camera crew can ambush Todd, Donny and Ms. McGarricle. The angry Todd leaves the prison, but refuses to give a release signature for the filmed. So Donny doesn't get any money for the meeting.

Donny returns to the wedding house to get his things. There he overhears Jamie on the phone, who is talking about cheating on Todd with his boss. He wants to tell Todd, but Jamie convincingly explains the whole thing as a misunderstanding. After that, Donny leaves Cape Cod and goes back to his strip club, where his friend Kenny persuades him to apologize to Jamie. Donny agrees and drives to the hotel where Jamie lives, only to catch her red-handed having sex with her brother Chad. Jamie also admits to Donny that she did have sex with Todd's boss. To keep Donny from telling Todd this news, she gives him the money he needs to pay his debts.

A little later Donny thinks about his decision and comes to the conclusion that he has to stop the wedding anyway. He and Vanilla Ice interrupt the ongoing ceremony and Donny reveals to all guests that he is Todd's father. He tears up the check he received from Jamie for his silence and urges her to tell Todd the truth. When Todd learns that Jamie is having sex with her brother, he is shocked and reveals his true identity. He accepts Donny as his father and even takes back his old name Han Solo Berger. Jamie begs Han Solo to marry her anyway and promises to change, but Han refuses. He also tells his boss that he is quitting. Vanilla Ice reveals to Han that Jamie slept with his boss as well. He does not deny this, but is also disgusted by the fact that Jamie has committed incest. Han then tells his boss that it is no problem for him that he slept with Jamie because Vanilla Ice and Donny both slept with his mother. The furious Jamie attacks Donny with a knife, but Donny knocks her unconscious, like the priest, with a bottle. Jamie's brother also tries to attack Donny and this time Han helps his father. When Jamie's brother gets up again and tries to attack Han, he is knocked to the ground by the priest and this time lies there. Han, Vanilla Ice and Donny leave the wedding in Ice's car.

The next day, Han tells Donny that he is with the bartender Brie. He also offers Donny the urgently needed money. He refuses on the grounds that it is now time for him to grow up and take responsibility. Donny is getting ready to go to jail and plans to rekindle his relationship with Ms. McGarricle when both are released in 2015. Suddenly you see on TV how Tubby Tuke, the runner on whom Donny initially bet $ 20, surprisingly wins the race and thus brings Donny a profit of $ 160,000. That amount is more than enough to save him from jail.
