Everett is a city in Middlesex County in the state of Massachusetts in the United States near Boston . The population is 41,667 according to the 2010 census . Everett is the only remaining city in the United States with a bicameral system consisting of a seven-member Board of Aldermen and an 18-member Common Council .

Everett was originally part of Charlestown and later Malden . The city was named after the politician and teacher Edward Everett . With George Washington's visit to the city, what was then Hospital Hill was renamed George Washington Hill .

Board of Aldermen
