Connor Brickley (born February 25, 1992 in Everett , Massachusetts ) is an American ice hockey player who has been under contract with EC Red Bull Salzburg from the Erste Bank Ice Hockey League since October 2019, where he plays in the center position.
Career
youth
Connor Brickley played in his youth for the Boston Jr. Eagles and for the Belmont Hill School team in a regional high school league. For the 2009/10 season, the attacker moved to the Des Moines Buccaneers in the United States Hockey League (USHL), the highest-ranking junior league in the United States. Towards the end of the season he was also briefly active in the USA Hockey National Team Development Program , before winning the gold medal with the US U18 national team at the 2010 U18 World Cup . Then the American was selected in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft in 50th position by the Florida Panthers . In the fall, Brickley enrolled at the University of Vermont and ran from then on for their ice hockey team, the Vermont Catamounts , in Hockey East , a college league played by the National Collegiate Athletic Association . He spent a total of four years in Vermont; He also represented the US U20 national team at the 2012 U20 World Cup , where he finished seventh with the team.
NHL and AHL
In April 2014 Brickley finally signed an entry contract with the Florida Panthers, who used him until the end of the 2013/14 season and throughout the 2014/15 season with their farm team , the San Antonio Rampage , in the American Hockey League (AHL). In his first full year as a professional, the center forward became the second best scorer of the Rampage with 22 goals and 25 assists, so that he made the jump into the Panthers squad for the following season and made his debut in the National Hockey League (NHL) in October 2015 . After 23 missions and five scorer points , however, the Panthers sent him back to the AHL, where he ended the season with the new farm team, the Portland Pirates . After he had extended his contract in Florida for another year in June 2016, the attacker was given to the Carolina Hurricanes in October 2016 in exchange for Brody Sutter . In the Hurricanes, Brickley could not earn a place in the NHL squad, so he spent the year with the Charlotte Checkers in the AHL.
In June 2017, Brickley was selected by the newly formed Vegas Golden Knights in the 2017 NHL Expansion Draft . For this election - and to protect potentially more valuable players - the Golden Knights received an additional five-round vote for Carolina's 2017 NHL Entry Draft . As a result, his contract with Vegas, which expired on July 1, 2017, was not extended, so the attacker returned to the Florida Panthers as a free agent and signed another one-year contract there. In the same way, he then moved to the Nashville Predators in July 2018 , but they handed him over to the New York Rangers in January 2019 and received Cole Schneider . His contract with the Rangers, which expired in summer 2019, was not subsequently extended.
Europe
After Brickley couldn't find a new employer on the North American continent by mid-October 2019, he signed on with EC Red Bull Salzburg from the Erste Bank Ice Hockey League .
