Alexander Rauchwald (born May 11, 1993 in Villach ) is an Austrian ice hockey player who has played in the Erste Bank Ice Hockey League (EBEL) at EC Red Bull Salzburg since 2014 .

Alexander Rauchwald started with the EC VSV with the ice hockey sport, where he played with their farm team VSV II in the third class league and later the successor organization Eliteliga. He also ran for the U20 team and was able to become Austrian U20 champions in 2011 and 2012, before playing in the new Erste Bank Young Stars League (EBYSL) from the 2012/13 season .

In 2011, Rauchwald made his debut in a test match against ATSE Graz in the VSV combat team and also scored his first goal. After he had made twelve appearances in the 2012/13 season , he received a professional contract for the 2013/14 season . In his first EBEL season he reached the semi-finals with Villach and scored ten points in 59 appearances.

In the summer of 2014, Rauchwald was signed by EC Red Bull Salzburg to reinforce the attack. With Salzburg he won the Austrian championship title in 2015 and 2016 and also the multinational Erste Bank Ice Hockey League.

International

In the junior area, Rauchwald first took part in the U18 World Cup 2011 in Division II, where promotion to Division I was fought for. With the Austrian U20 he played at the U20 World Cup 2013 in Division I.

In April 2014 he made his debut for the men's national team at a World Cup preparation game against Slovenia in Vienna . At the 2017 World Cup , he played for the Alpenland in Division I.

family

Alexander Rauchwald is the son of the former VSV player Gerald Rauchwald and nephew of the former VSV player Peter Raffl . His cousin Michael Raffl has played for the Philadelphia Flyers in the National Hockey League since 2013 , while his cousin Thomas Raffl is also under contract with EC Red Bull Salzburg.
