Peter Hochkofler (born October 4, 1994 in Bolzano ) is an Italo - Austrian ice hockey player who has been under contract with EC Red Bull Salzburg in the Austrian ice hockey league since 2015 .

Career

Peter Hochkofler grew up in the South Tyrolean communities of Kaltern and Eppan , where he started ice hockey and became Italian champion in the U12 and U15 age groups. At the age of 15 he moved to Salzburg, where he was able to celebrate the Austrian U17 championship title that same year. He then played for Salzburg's farm and U18 team in the international Red Bulls Hockey Rookies Cup and the Molodjoschnaja Chokkeinaja Liga (MHL), the multinational junior league of the Russian Continental Hockey League (KHL). He also played for Salzburg's U20 team in the Erste Bank Young Stars League (EBYSL).

In July 2015, he received Austrian citizenship and made the leap into the EC Red Bull Salzburg fighting team. In the 2015/16 season he made 67 appearances, scored twelve points and won the Austrian championship title and the Austrian ice hockey league with the team . In the following years, Hochkofler was also in the squad.

International

From 2010 to 2014 he played for the Italian U18 and U20 teams in international competitions. He played with the U18 squad at the Division I World Championships in 2011 and 2012 when he was voted best player on his team. He played with the Italian U20s in 2012 , 2013 and 2014 in Division I, whereby in his last junior year he was promoted from the B to the A group of Division I.

With the men's selection of the Italians , he took part for the first time in the World Cup of Division I 2018 , when he was promoted to the top division. In addition to two assists, Hochkofler contributed the 1-0 in the decisive 3-0 victory against the Kazakhs with the same points at the end .
