Dominique Heinrich (born July 31, 1990 in Vienna ) is an Austrian ice hockey player who has been under contract with EC Red Bull Salzburg in the Austrian ice hockey league again since January 2017 .

Career

Heinrich started playing ice hockey in his hometown at the Vienna EV . After his bankruptcy in 2000, he worked for the successor club Wiener Eislöwen until 2007 . For the 2007/08 season, the 17-year-old striker was finally relegated to the EHC Team Vienna . In summer 2008 he finally moved to EC Red Bull Salzburg in the Austrian ice hockey league, with which he won numerous national and international titles. After the end of the 2015/16 season, he left Salzburg and signed with the Swedish first division club Örebro HK . In January 2017 he returned to Salzburg.

International

Heinrich first played in the U18 Junior World Championship in Division I in 2008 for his home country. A year later he ran at the U20 Junior World Championships in Division I in 2009 when the Austrians made it to the top division. In 2010 , he led the team as team captain on the ice. However, the Austrians relegated to Division I again without winning a point.

For the men's selection of the Austrians , he played for the first time in the 4-3 win against France on November 12, 2010 in Székesfehérvár, Hungary . He made his World Cup debut at the World Cup of Group A Division I in 2012 in Slovenia . There the Austrians managed to get promoted back to the top division in second place. Heinrich was not used in this. After the Austrians were relegated to the second division, he was called back to the national team for the 2014 World Cup and not only rose again to the top group with the team, but also became the best defender and the all-star team of Tournament of Division I, Group A, selected. He also scored the most goals and scorer points for a defender in this tournament. In the following year he played with the team from the Alpine country for the first time in the top division, but could not hold the class. He then played again in Division I at the 2017 World Cup , where he was selected as the best defender and with the best plus / minus balance (together with his compatriot Konstantin Komarek ) in the all-star team of the tournament. He also represented his colors in the Olympic qualification for the Winter Games in Pyeongchang 2018 .
