The Wiener Eislöwen-Verein ( WE-V for short ) was an ice hockey club from Vienna . He was the successor to the Wiener EV and played in the Austrian National League from 2003/04 to 2006/07 .

history

After the dissolution of the Vienna ice hockey club in 2000, the Vienna Ice Lions Club was founded. The club continues to take part in the youth competitions in the Bundesliga and is one of the largest trainers in Austria. From 2003 to 2007 he also provided a fighting team in the National League , Austria's second-highest division.

The fighting team was able to reach the championship quarter-finals in the first three seasons. Since its inception, a total of five championship titles and four runner-up titles have been won in the youth competitions.

In the summer of 2007, the U17, U20 and national league teams were dissolved and incorporated into the cooperation project EHC Team Vienna . This association bundles the junior teams of the Vienna Ice Lion Club with those of the EAC Junior Capitals , the Vienna Young Tigers, the Children's Icehockey Club and the hockey stars.

WE-V flyers

At the end of the 2011/12 season, the Vienna Flyers stopped playing and the majority of the players switched to the Wiener Eislöwen to start the women's team WE-V Flyers . In 2016, the WEV-Flyers withdrew from the game, the players then switched to the Junior Capitals .

The club's teams, as well as the now defunct national league team, played their home games at the Albert Schultz ice rink in the Kagran district of Vienna . The hall was opened in 1991 and today has a capacity of 4,500 spectators, which is to be expanded to 7,500 by the 2010/11 season. In addition to the WE-V, the hall also serves as the home stadium for the Vienna Capitals and EHV Sabers Vienna ice hockey clubs.
