John-Jason Peterka (born January 14, 2002 in Munich ) is a German ice hockey player who has been under contract with EHC Red Bull Munich in the German Ice Hockey League (DEL) since summer 2019 and has been on loan at EC Red Bull Salzburg in August 2020 the ICE Hockey League plays. Peterka is considered to be one of the most promising talents in the upcoming NHL Entry Draft 2020 .
Career
Born in the Bavarian capital of Munich , Peterka started out in ice hockey at EHC Munich , later he played in the Bad Tölz U16 team at EC Bad Tölz , until he moved to the RB Hockey Academy in Salzburg . There he played in the Erste Bank Juniors League (EBJL), the U18 junior league of the Erste Bank Ice Hockey League and in the Czech U18 and U19 extra leagues .
In his first season in the EBJL, the only 16-year-old Peterka scored 45 points in only 13 games . In the subsequent playoffs, he scored 19 times in seven games, making a significant contribution to the fact that the junior team of EC Red Bull Salzburg became champions of the 2017/18 season. The following season he also ran for the RB Hockey Academy and was the top scorer of the team and the entire league in 48 games in the Czech U19 league with 94 points, including 45 goals .
In summer 2019 he was signed by EHC Red Bull Munich . Due to his good performances in the German Ice Hockey League (DEL) and the Champions Hockey League , he is a permanent member of the team under Don Jackson . He is also entitled to play with the SC Riessersee league team thanks to a sponsorship license .
International
Peterka has been part of the German junior national team since she was U16. He played his first international tournament at the U18 World Junior Championship of Division IA 2019 in Grenoble, France . There, the German team and Peterka, who made a major contribution with eight scorer points, were promoted back to the top division. A year later, he represented the German U20 team at the 2020 U20 World Junior Championship in the Czech Republic . There he was the second best scorer behind Dominik Bokk with four goals and also the second best scorer of the German team with six points in seven games, which made him a major player in staying up .
