Daryl Boyle (born February 24, 1987 in Sparwood , British Columbia ) is a German - Canadian ice hockey player who has been under contract with EHC Red Bull Munich in the German Ice Hockey League since the 2014/15 season .
Career
Daryl Boyle began his career as a hockey player with the Crowsnest Pass Timberwolves, for which he was active in the Alberta Junior Hockey League in the 2003/04 season . The defender then played for the Brandon Wheat Kings of the Canadian top junior Western Hockey League for four years before making his professional ice hockey debut for the Norfolk Admirals of the American Hockey League towards the end of the 2007/08 season . With the Norfolk Admirals he also spent the entire following season . He started the 2009/10 season with the Rockford IceHogs before moving to the Peoria Rivermen in January 2010 within the AHL . In the 2010/11 season he ran parallel for Peoria in the AHL and its cooperation partner Alaska Aces in the ECHL . With Munich he became German champion in 2016 and 2017.
For the 2011/12 season Boyle was signed by the Augsburg Panthers from the German Ice Hockey League . He stayed in Augsburg for three years and was team captain in the 2012/13 and 2013/14 seasons. In March 2014, he was signed by DEL competitor EHC Munich .
International
In October 2013 Boyle was appointed to the German national team for the first time and celebrated his international debut as part of the Germany Cup . As a result, the defender also took part in the 2016 World Cup and successfully qualified for the Olympic Games with the German squad the following year . Boyle won the silver medal at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang . On June 7, 2018, Federal President Steinmeier awarded him the Silver Laurel Leaf.
