Sparwood is a municipality in the Canadian province of British Columbia and has the status of a District Municipality . It is located not far from the border with Alberta in the southeastern part of the province on the Elk River . The parish is located in the Regional District of East Kootenay .
The place was and is strongly influenced by mining with its surroundings. An exhibited Terex Titan , supposedly the largest truck in the world, is considered a sight .
A road goes north from the parish through which Elkford Parish and then Elk Lakes Provincial Park can be reached.

The small town is located on the Crowsnest Highway and is the first major settlement in British Columbia - coming from Alberta. The community is also crossed by the Canadian Pacific Railway , which runs over the Crowsnest Pass and into Alberta.
