history
Since the 1940s the team played as Brandon Elks in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League . During this time, namely 1949, the team took part for the first time in the final of the Memorial Cup , the official Canadian junior championship. 1979, 1995 and 1996, the Wheat Kings were able to reach the final round as champions of the Western Hockey League again, but they never won the title. The franchise now plays its home games in Westman Communications Group Place , the former Keystone Center, with a capacity of 5,927 . The Wheat City Arena served as the home stadium until 1969, and the Wheat Kings played in the Manex Arena from 1969 to 1972 . With 125 points in the 1978/79 season, the franchise still holds the Canadian Hockey League's record in a regular season.
A previous team by the name of "Brandon Wheat Kings" was in the final of the Stanley Cup in 1904 , but lost there against the Ottawa Senators .
