The Kelowna Wings were a Canadian ice hockey team from Kelowna , British Columbia . The team played from 1982 to 1985 in one of the top three Canadian junior ice hockey leagues, the Western Hockey League (WHL).

history

The Kelowna Wings were founded in 1982 as a franchise of the Western Hockey League . In their first two seasons, the team was sixth and last in the West Division with 27 and 31 points. In the 1984/85 season, the Wings reached the playoffs for the first and only time after they were able to double their yield in the regular season to 62 points. In the playoffs, however, they were eliminated in the second round, the division semi-finals, after they were defeated by the New Westminster Bruins . Following the season, the franchise was relocated to Spokane , Washington and has since participated in the WHL's gaming operations under the name Spokane Chiefs .
