history

The Swift Current Broncos were relocated from Swift Current , Saskatchewan , to Lethbridge, Alberta, in 1974 for financial reasons and renamed the Lethbridge Broncos. In all twelve years of its existence, the team reached the playoffs. Her greatest achievement was winning the Ed Chynoweth Cup in the 1982/83 season after beating the Portland Winter Hawks in the final . In the summer of 1986, the franchise was bought up and moved back to Swift Current, where it has since participated in the game operations of the WHL under its original name Swift Current Broncos.

The void left after the Broncos were relocated to Lethbridge was filled by the Lethbridge Hurricanes , who have played in the WHL since 1987.
