Jayson W. "Jay" More (born January 12, 1969 in Souris , Manitoba ) is a former Canadian ice hockey player who played 437 games for the New York Rangers , Minnesota North Stars , San Jose during his active career between 1984 and 1999 Sharks , Phoenix Coyotes , Chicago Blackhawks and Nashville Predators played in the National Hockey League on the position of defender .

Career

More initially played for four years from 1984 to 1988 in the Western Hockey League with three different teams. After he was selected in the first round in tenth position by the New York Rangers in the 1987 NHL Entry Draft , he delivered his best and most productive year in the WHL in the following season 1987/88 with 60 points in 70 games, but also 270 penalty minutes, which earned him the appointment to the WHL West First All-Star Team.

Before the 1988/89 season, the defender moved to the professional area because the Rangers had made him a contract offer. However, they used him for the time being in the International Hockey League with the Denver Rangers , before he played his first NHL game for the team from the Big Apple later this season . It remained his only game for the Rangers, as they transferred him to the Minnesota North Stars in November 1989 . After only five NHL appearances for the North Stars, he was after a year to the Montreal Canadiens , which made him exclusively in the American Hockey League - a farm team . Since the Canadiens found no use for More, they left him unprotected in the 1991 NHL Expansion Draft , making him the San Jose Sharks , for whose roster the draft was held, selected. Immediately for the 1991/92 season , the Canadian got a regular place in the individually weakly staffed Sharks squad, which he remained loyal to until the end of the 1995/96 season . He played his best season in 1991/92 with 17 points in the summer of 1996 More had to return to the New York Rangers, since the Sharks, together with Brian Swanson and a draft law, had exchanged him for Marty McSorley . In the Rangers, More received significantly fewer missions than in San Jose and was already part of a change business in February 1997. For Mike Eastwood and Dallas Eakins he moved to the Phoenix Coyotes . After a year, the transfer to the Chicago Blackhawks followed , with whom he only stayed until the summer of 1998, when his contract had expired. As a free agent , he signed a contract with the newly formed Nashville Predators .

Due to a head injury sustained on December 10, 1998 in the game against the Florida Panthers , he was forced to end his career prematurely after only 18 games for Nashville.
