The 1990/91 season was the 46th regular season of the International Hockey League . During the regular season, the eleven teams were to play 82 games each, but the schedule had to be changed due to the early financial exit of the Albany Choppers . In the play-offs, the Peoria Rivermen prevailed and won the second Turner Cup in their club history.
Team changes
The following changes were made before the start of the season:
- The Flint Spirits stopped playing.
- The Albany Choppers were added to the league as an expansion team, but due to financial problems they stopped playing during the current season.
- The Kansas City Blades were added to the league as an expansion team.
- The San Diego Gulls were added to the league as an expansion team.
