The 2000/01 season was the 56th and final regular season of the International Hockey League . During the regular season, the eleven teams played 82 games each. In the play-offs, the Orlando Solar Bears prevailed and won the first Turner Cup in their club's history. After the dissolution of the IHL, six teams moved to the American Hockey League for the 2001/02 season , while the remaining five teams stopped playing.
Team changes
The following changes were made before the start of the season:
- The Long Beach Ice Dogs moved to the West Coast Hockey League .
- The Michigan K-Wings stopped playing.
