The 1955/56 season was the eleventh regular season of the International Hockey League . During the regular season, the six teams played 60 games each. In the play-offs, the Cincinnati Mohawks prevailed and won the fourth Turner Cup in their club history.

Team changes

The following changes were made before the start of the season:

• The Johnstown Jets moved to the Eastern Hockey League .
• The Toledo Mercurys changed their name to Toledo-Marion Mercurys.
• The Indianapolis Chiefs were added to the league as an expansion team.
