The 1952/53 season was the eighth regular season of the International Hockey League . During the regular season, the six teams played 60 games each. In the play-offs, the Cincinnati Mohawks prevailed and won the first Turner Cup in their club's history.
Team changes
The following changes were made before the start of the season:
- The Chatham Maroons moved to the Ontario Hockey Association .
- The Detroit Hettche stopped the game.
- The Cincinnati Mohawks from the American Hockey League were added to the league as an expansion team.
- The Fort Wayne Komets were added to the league as an expansion team.
- The Milwaukee Chiefs were added to the league as an expansion team.
