The 1952/53 season was the 17th regular season of the American Hockey League (AHL). During the regular season, the seven teams in the league played 64 games each. The four best teams in the AHL then played in a play-off round for the Calder Cup .

- The Cincinnati Mohawks moved to the International Hockey League

Calder Cup playoffs

The four best teams in the American Hockey League qualified for the play-offs. In the semifinals and finals, these played the Calder Cup winner. The semi-finals were held in best-of-five mode, while the final was held in best-of-seven mode.
