The 1942/43 season was the seventh regular season of the American Hockey League (AHL). During the regular season, the eight teams in the league should each play 56 games, but the New Haven Eagles stopped playing after 32 games for financial reasons. The six best teams in the AHL then played in a play-off round for the Calder Cup .

- The Springfield Indians stopped playing
- The New Haven Eagles stopped playing during the season

Calder Cup playoffs
mode
The six best teams in the American Hockey League qualified for the play-offs. The two winners from the duels between the teams in places two to four met in the second round, while the winner from the duel between the two division winners was automatically qualified for the final by a bye . The first two play-off rounds took place in the best-of-three mode, with the two division winners playing for the finals in the best-of-seven mode. The final itself was played in the best-of-five mode.
