The 2018/19 season was the 83rd season of the American Hockey League (AHL). During the regular season, which ran from October 5, 2018 to April 14, 2019, the 31 teams in the league played 76 or 68 matches. The Charlotte Checkers won the Macgregor Kilpatrick Trophy as the best team of the regular season. Then the playoffs for the Calder Cup took place, which the Charlotte Checkers also secured on June 9, 2019.
Changes
The Colorado Eagles switched from the ECHL to the AHL, so that it now consists of 31 teams like the National Hockey League (NHL). The Eagles continue to function as the Colorado Avalanche's farm team , while the St. Louis Blues henceforth cooperate with the San Antonio Rampage , so that now every NHL team has a cooperation partner in the AHL. Furthermore, the Eagles were assigned to the Pacific Division , while the San Antonio Rampage and the Texas Stars moved from this to the Central Division , in which in turn the Cleveland Monsters vacated their place and henceforth play in the North Division of the Eastern Conference .
mode
The mode essentially corresponds to that introduced for the 2015/16 season .
