The 2018/19 season was ECHL's 31st season . All 27 teams played 72 games each in the regular season, which ran from October 12, 2018 to April 7, 2019. This was followed by the playoffs for the Kelly Cup . The Newfoundland Growlers prevailed against the Toledo Walleye in the playoff finals series and won the Kelly Cup for the first time.
Team changes
- The Colorado Eagles left the ECHL and switched to the American Hockey League (AHL) as reigning champions .
- The Maine Mariners began playing as a continuation of the Alaska Aces .
- The Newfoundland Growlers started playing.
- The Quad City Mallards stopped the game.
