John Brophy Award

The John Brophy Award is an ice hockey trophy of the ECHL , which is awarded annually to the best coach in the ECHL. The trophy was named in 2003 after John Brophy , a former head coach of the ECHL. The trophy was previously awarded under the name ECHL Coach of the Year . Having won three ECHL championships in the 1990s, Brophy is considered the most successful head coach in league history to date and has also been a member of the ECHL Hall of Fame since 2009 . The winner is chosen by the head coaches of the ECHL.
