The 2011/12 season was ECHL's 24th regular season . The 20 teams contested 72 matches each in the regular season . The team with the highest points in the regular season were the Alaska Aces . The Florida Everblades prevailed in the playoff finals series against the Las Vegas Wranglers and won the Kelly Cup for the first time .
Team changes
The following changes were made before the start of the season:
- The Trenton Devils set the game operations and continued the game operations under the name Trenton Titans .
- The Victoria Salmon Kings stopped the game.
- The Chicago Express were added to the league as an expansion team.
- The Colorado Eagles from the Central Hockey League were added to the league as an expansion team.
