The 2011/12 season was ECHL's 24th regular season . The 20 teams contested 72 matches each in the regular season . The team with the highest points in the regular season were the Alaska Aces . The Florida Everblades prevailed in the playoff finals series against the Las Vegas Wranglers and won the Kelly Cup for the first time .

Team changes

The following changes were made before the start of the season:

The Trenton Devils set the game operations and continued the game operations under the name Trenton Titans .
The Victoria Salmon Kings stopped the game.
The Chicago Express were added to the league as an expansion team.
The Colorado Eagles from the Central Hockey League were added to the league as an expansion team.
