Mike Little (born November 12, 1987 in Enfield , Connecticut ) is an American ice hockey player who has been under contract with SønderjyskE Ishockey in the Danish Metal Ligaen since 2019 .
Career
Mike Little played for the Springfield Pics in the Eastern Junior Hockey League in the 2006/07 season . For the next season he stayed in Springfield and began studying at the American International College . Little was now part of the college's ice hockey team, the Yellow Jackets , who played Atlantic Hockey in the NCAA Conference . In his first three years he reached last place with his team and was eliminated in the first round of the playoffs . In the 2010/11 season he was assistant captain of his team. After Little was again last in his fourth year with the Yellow Jackets, you could defeat the team of the United States Military Academy in the first round of the playoffs . In the quarter-finals, the Rochester Institute of Technology lost two games.
After the end of the college season, Little made his professional debut for the Reading Royals in the ECHL on March 23, 2011 . He played seven games and gave two assists. For the 2011/12 season Little signed with Stockton Thunder . There he was the best defender of his team and came in the playoffs to the conference semi-finals. Because of his good performance, Little was chosen into the ECHL All-Rookie Team . He then extended his contract and reached the final of the Kelly Cup with his team the next year . There Little was defeated by his former Reading Royals team with the Stockton Thunder in five games. In September 2013 he was transferred to the Florida Everblades , where he spent the season. In addition, Little played three games in the American Hockey League for the Norfolk Admirals . In July 2014, he extended his contract with the Everblades. In the 2014/15 season , Little led his team as assistant captain to first place in the East Division. In the playoffs, the Everblades lost to the eventual Kelly Cup winner South Carolina Stingrays in the second round. Little showed outstanding performance offensively and defensively, so that he was voted ECHL Defenseman of the Year . During the season he came back to the AHL when he first played for the Charlotte Checkers . Games for the Springfield Falcons followed , so that Little played in Springfield ice hockey in the junior area, college business and professional hockey.
On June 2, 2015, the Iserlohn Roosters from the German Ice Hockey League announced the commitment of the defender. He got a trial contract until the beginning of the season. After the five-week preparation phase with seven test matches, the Roosters announced on September 7th that Little would not receive a contract for the season. This was followed by the change to the Austrian first division club Graz 99ers and another transfer in November to the German second division club Kassel Huskies . With the Huskies, Little initially received a trial contract, two weeks later the working paper was extended to the end of the 2015/16 season. With the Huskies he won the championship title in the DEL2 and a few days after the end of the season he accepted a contract offer from the DEL club Krefeld Pinguine , which tied him for the 2016/17 season. In 2017 he returned to the huskies.
