history

The Trenton Devils were founded in 1999 under the name Trenton Titans, after the ECHL had already decided in 1996 to expand the league in favor of a team in Trenton. The Titans were initially the farm team of the NHL team Philadelphia Flyers and their AHL farm team Philadelphia Phantoms , before they signed a one-year contract with the New York Islanders and their farm team Bridgeport Sound Tigers for the 2005/06 season , as the Islanders for their previous one ECHL farm team in Biloxi , Mississippi were looking for a replacement because Biloxi was not available as a venue due to damage from Hurricane Katrina .

As of the 2006/07 season, Trenton was the New Jersey Devils' farm team, and on May 18, 2007, the name was changed to Trenton Devils. The team celebrated the greatest success when they won the Kelly Cup with 4-2 victories against the Florida Everblades in the 2004/05 season . Already in the 2000/01 season they reached the Kelly Cup final, but were defeated there by the South Carolina Stingrays 4-1 in the series.

Prior to the 2011/12 season , the New Jersey Devils announced that their farm team Trenton Devils is ceasing to play with immediate effect. The main reasons given were the declining audience response and the financial losses that the Devils had suffered in recent years.

A short time later, a group of entrepreneurs sought to bring the Trenton Titans franchise, which had been the team's original name, back into ECHL. In the same month, the franchise was acquired by Blue Line Sports LLC and on July 28, 2011 a cooperation with the Philadelphia Flyers from the National Hockey League was announced. The team was assigned to the Atlantic Division of the Eastern Conference, immediately resumed play and retained the original schedule for the 2011/12 season of the Trenton Devils. In early August 2011, a new head coach was introduced with Vince Williams after Kevin Dean had previously left the team.

After the 2012/13 season , the team stopped playing with immediate effect.
