The Jackson Bandits were an American ice hockey team from Jackson , Mississippi . The team played in the East Coast Hockey League from 1999 to 2003 .

history

The Chesapeake Icebreakers from the East Coast Hockey League were relocated to Jackson, Mississippi, two years after their formation following the 1998/99 season and renamed Jackson Bandits. Their most successful season completed the team in the 2001/02 season, in which they first beat the New Orleans Brass and the Louisiana IceGators after finishing fourth in the Southwest Division in the regular season in the playoffs for the Kelly Cup , before they only played in the third round lost to the Mississippi Sea Wolves with a sweep in the best-of-five series. In the following, their last season, the Bandits failed in the playoff qualification by a narrow 2-3 defeat after extra time at the Pensacola Ice Pilots .

After the number of spectators fell continuously and the construction of an own arena failed, the franchise was dissolved in 2003.
