Adam Aaron Hauser (born May 27, 1980 in Bovey , Minnesota ) is an American ice hockey goalkeeper who last played in the 2011/12 season for SC Bietigheim-Bissingen in the 2nd German Ice Hockey Bundesliga .
Career
Hauser began his career at Greenway High School, with whose team he played in the Minnesota State High School League. 1997/98 he played for the American national junior team. He then spent four years in the NCAA for the University of Minnesota , where he also began studying economics . In the 1999 NHL Entry Draft he was drawn by the Edmonton Oilers in 81st place in the third round. In 2002 he won the NCAA title with the team and was voted best goalkeeper.
For the 2002/03 season he decided to switch to the professional field to the Providence Bruins , the farm team of the Boston Bruins in the American Hockey League . However, after only one game, he moved to the Jackson Bandits in the East Coast Hockey League , where he was named the best rookie goalkeeper. A year later, Hauser signed a contract with the Manchester Monarchs (AHL), where he spent the following three seasons. In the 2005/06 season he even received an assignment in the National Hockey League for the Los Angeles Kings , but conceded six goals. In July 2006 he signed a one-year contract with the Kölner Haien . At the Haien he impressed with his strong performances, was the goalkeeper with the best catch rate in the league at the end of the season and was invited to the 2007 DEL All-Star Game . From the 2007/08 season he played for Adler Mannheim, where he also took over the position of regular goalkeeper. In the main round there was a good support of the team, but weakened in the playoffs, whereupon they signed a new goalkeeper in the summer of 2008 with Fred Brathwaite . Since the contract between the Adler and Hauser was still valid until 2009, it remained in the team for the time being, but without being used. It was not until October 2008, when the new season was already over a month, that Hauser was able to find a new employer in the form of the Kassel Huskies . After two years with the Huskies, the club went bankrupt in late summer 2010 and Hauser moved to the Vienna Capitals in the Austrian EBEL, where he replaced the injured Jürgen Penker . He has been under contract with the SC Bietigheim-Bissingen Steelers since February 1, 2012.
In the summer months, Hauser runs training camps for goalkeepers in his American homeland, especially for young players.
