The Pee Dee Pride ( Florence Pride during the 2003-2004 season ) were an American ice hockey franchise from Florence , South Carolina . The venue for the Pee Dee Pride was the Florence Civic Center .
history
The franchise was founded in 1997 and started its gaming operations in the ECHL. Head coach was Jack Capuano , who played in the NHL during his career. The Pee Dee Pride reached 76 points in their inaugural season, placing them third in the Southeast Division and qualifying for the play-offs. In the first round they were defeated by the South Carolina Stingrays in just under five games. In the following season, the Pee Dee Pride won 106 points and easily reached the playoffs. The team only failed in the Conference Finals, in which they were defeated by the Mississippi Sea Wolves in five games. Nevertheless, this represented the greatest success of the franchise. In the last four seasons, the Pee Dee Pride consistently reached the playoffs, but the team did not reach more than the third round. For the 2003/04 season, the franchise was renamed Florence Pride, and for the following season the team was renamed Pee Dee Pride again. In 2005 the franchise was dissolved.
