The Birmingham Bulls were an American ice hockey team from Birmingham , Alabama . The team played in the East Coast Hockey League from 1992 to 2001 .
history
The Cincinnati Cyclones were founded in 1990 as a franchise of the East Coast Hockey League . Two years later, its then owner Doug Kirchoffer received the rights to a franchise for the International Hockey League , whereupon he used the IHL license for the Cyclones and relocated the ECHL license to Birmingham, Alabama. The team based there was then named Birmingham Bulls in reference to several former ice hockey franchises from the city. The Birmingham Bulls completed their most successful season in the 1993/94 season. After they had initially finished the regular season in second place in the West Division, they failed in the playoffs for the Kelly Cup after victories over the Huntsville Blast and Louisville Icehawks only in the third round with 1: 3 wins in the best-of- Five series on the Raleigh IceCaps . In the following years , the team from Alabama never got beyond the second playoff round, before it was relocated to Atlantic City , New Jersey , following the 2000/01 season , where it was named Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies in the following years participated in the ECHL game operations.
