The Louisville River Frogs were an American ice hockey team from Louisville , Kentucky . The team played in the East Coast Hockey League from 1995 to 1998 .

history

The Louisville River Frogs were founded in 1995 as a franchise of the East Coast Hockey League . In its premiere season in the 1995/96 season, after finishing third in the North Division, the team immediately reached the playoffs for the Kelly Cup , in which, however, they won the South Carolina Stingrays in the first round in the best of Five series with a sweep underlay. In the following two years, the River Frogs missed the playoffs, so they were relocated to Miami , Florida in 1998, where they took part in the game operations of the ECHL for a year under the name Miami Matadors .
