The Ontario Reign were an American ice hockey team from Ontario , California . The team played in the ECHL from 2008 to 2015 before moving to the Manchester Monarchs .
history
The Texas Wildcatters from the ECHL were relocated to Ontario, California, in the summer of 2008, after they had not previously found a suitable venue for the following season. The team then entered into a cooperation with the Los Angeles Kings from the National Hockey League . According to the other farm teams of the Kings ( Manchester Monarchs and Reading Royals ), the team was given a name associated with the topic of "nobility" and was renamed Ontario Reign. In its first season, the team immediately won the Pacific Division, but was eliminated in the following playoffs for the Kelly Cup in the first round against the Stockton Thunder .
The Ontario Reign, like the Eisbären Berlin and Hamburg Freezers from the German Ice Hockey League, were owned by the Anschutz Entertainment Group .
As part of the restructuring of the American Hockey League for the 2015/16 season, the team was disbanded and swapped places with the Manchester Monarchs . Thus from now on the Ontario Reign exist in the AHL and the Manchester Monarchs in the ECHL. Both remain cooperation partners of the LA Kings.
