history
The Macon Whoopee was founded in 1996 as a franchise of the Central Hockey League . The name was chosen based on a team from the Southern Hockey League , the Macon Whoopees . After failing in the first playoff round for the Miron Cup in their first three seasons , they achieved the greatest success in club history in the 1999/2000 season when they first beat the Fayetteville Force after finishing fourth in the Eastern Division they were defeated in the second playoff round to the Columbus Cottonmouths in the best-of-five series with 1: 3 wins. For the 2001/02 season Macon took over the game license of the Tallahassee Tiger Sharks from the East Coast Hockey League , but were relocated to Lexington , Kentucky , after only one year , where they then took part in the game operations of the ECHL under the name Lexington Men O'War .
