The Topeka ScareCrows were an American ice hockey team from Topeka , Kansas . The team played in the Central Hockey League from 1998 to 2001 .
history
The Topeka ScareCrows were founded in 1998 as a franchise of the Central Hockey League . In their first season they finished the regular season in fourth place in the West Division. In the subsequent playoffs for the Miron Cup, they were defeated by the eventual finalist Oklahoma City Blazers in the first round in the best-of-three series with a sweep . In their second and last playoff participation, they lost in the 2002/03 season with 1: 3 wins to the San Antonio Iguanas . Then the team, whose head coach in the three years of its existence was the Canadian Paul Kelly, was sold and played among other things owner until 2003 in the junior league United States Hockey League . After the club started in the 2003/04 season as the St. Louis Heartland Eagles in the USHL, it was finally dissolved.
The void left in the city by the departure of the Topeka ScareCrows was filled by the Topeka Tarantulas , who competed in the Central Hockey League in the 2004/05 season.
