The San Antonio Iguanas were an American ice hockey team from San Antonio , Texas . The team played in the Central Hockey League from 1994 to 1997 and from 1998 to 2002 .
history
The team was founded in 1994 as a franchise of the Central Hockey League . In their first two seasons they reached the final of the Miron Cup , in which they were subject to Wichita Thunder and the Oklahoma City Blazers . The team was unable to continue these two successful years in the following seasons. After finishing last in the Western Division and missing the playoffs in the 1996/97 season, the team did not play in the CHL for a year before they never got past the second playoff round from 1999 to 2002. Following the 2001/02 season, those responsible dissolved the San Antonio Iguanas and stopped playing. One of the reasons was the lack of sponsorship due to the formation of the San Antonio Rampage from the American Hockey League .
