Career
Coxe, who was drawn in the fourth round in the fourth round of the Detroit Red Wings in the 1982 NHL Entry Draft , first played from 1982 to 1984 for the Belleville Bulls in the Ontario Hockey League . In June 1984, he signed a contract with the Vancouver Canucks after the Red Wings showed no interest in him. The native Californian was first used in the farm team in the American Hockey League , but also made his first nine NHL games. Overall, Coxe stayed in Vancouver until March 1988, but was then handed over to the Calgary Flames for Peter Bakovic and Brian Bradley . Exactly half a year later, Coxe changed teams again. Together with Mike Bullard and Tim Corkery he was given to Doug Gilmour , Steve Bozek , Mike Dark and Mark Hunter to the St. Louis Blues . They in turn gave him to the Chicago Blackhawks a year later to settle an earlier transfer deal, but they immediately put him on the waiver list. From there, his ex-team from Vancouver took him under contract, with whom he then stayed until the end of the 1990/91 season.
In the 1991 NHL Expansion Draft , the San Jose Sharks , a newly formed franchise , signed him. Coxe, who was able to return to his home state of California, only played ten times for the Sharks. He scored two goals. His first goal, which he scored in the first game of the season on October 4, 1991 in the 3: 4 defeat against his former team from Vancouver, was also the first goal in the Sharks' franchise history.
After the season, Coxe played in various American minor leagues up to and including 2000 . From 1992 to 1993 in the International Hockey League , 1993 to 1995, 1996 to 1998 and 1999 to 2000 in the Central Hockey League , as well as in the 1995/96 season in the Southern Hockey League and 1998/99 in the Western Professional Hockey League . He also played roller hockey in the Roller Hockey International in 1994 and 1995 .
In the seasons 2000/01 and 2002/03 he worked as head coach in the CHL.
