Steven Michael "Steve" Bozek (born November 26, 1960 in Kelowna , British Columbia ) is a retired Canadian ice hockey player who played 699 games for the Los Angeles Kings , Calgary Flames , St. Louis between 1978 and 1993 Blues , Vancouver Canucks and San Jose Sharks played in the National Hockey League on the left winger position . Bozek celebrated his greatest career success in the jersey of the Canadian national team by winning the silver medal at the 1991 World Cup .

Career

Bozek first played three years from 1978 to 1981 at Northern Michigan University . There the left winger was elected to three national teams in his senior year. The year before he was selected in the 1980 NHL Entry Draft by the Los Angeles Kings in the third round in 52nd place.

For the 1981/82 season Bozek then moved to the NHL and played for two seasons for the Los Angeles Kings before they transferred him to the Calgary Flames in the summer of 1983, after a weak season for Bozek . The Canadian stayed in Calgary for five years, but was then handed over to the St. Louis Blues with Brett Hull in March 1988 . Bozek only played seven games for the Blues and was sent to Vancouver for the following season in 1988/89 . He stayed with the Canucks for three years before signing a contract with the newly formed San Jose Sharks in the summer of 1991 . After only one year of play, Bozek moved to HC Bozen , where he ended his career in the 1992/93 season and in the following season at HK Olimpija Ljubljana .

International

For his home country Bozek took part in the 1991 World Cup in Finland and won the silver medal there with the team. He scored twice in eight tournaments.
