The 1993/94 season was the third edition of the Slovenian ice hockey league after Slovenia declared independence from Yugoslavia . It was held with seven teams. The defending champion and also the new champion was HK Jesenice .
Participant field and mode
The field of participants from the previous year grew from six to seven teams with the addition of the HDK Stavbar Maribor . After only HK Jesenice had participated in the international Alpine league in the 1992/93 season , this also withdrew from the league in the 1993/94 season, so that this season was completed without Slovenian participation.
The Slovenian championship started with a basic round in the form of a simple round trip. After these twelve games per team, the field was divided into two groups of four or three teams. The four best teams played another round of rounds against each other, the three teams in ranks five to seven played a double round. The points obtained have been added to the previous table.
This was followed by the playoffs with semi-finals and finals in the Best of Seven mode . Series for third and fifth place were also held.
Basic round
After HK Celje had already shown a steadily increasing form in the first two events of the league, the team succeeded in the third attempt to place themselves at the top of the table with the usual strong HDD Olimpija Ljubljana . The reigning champions from Jesenice initially struggled with a form low, but still reached third place. The season was again disappointing for HK Slavija Ljubljana , who again couldn't win a game in the regular season.

Playoffs
In the playoffs a new edition of the final of the last two years quickly crystallized out, as both HK Jesenice and HDD Olimpija Ljubljana were able to defeat their opponents in the semifinals without any major problems. The final series ran the full distance again. Laibach was able to show three victories in a row, but failed again and again in the last three encounters due to the exploitation of the matchpuck. HK Jesenice finally successfully defended their title in their last game on foreign ice.
